The Best Places to Watch Fireworks in NYC 2024 – PureWow

For the first time in more than a decade, the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks will be launched from barges on the Hudson River instead of the East River – a change that has delighted our New Jersey friends across the Hudson and has received quite a bit of backlash from people living in the suburbs. In other words, if you live in Brooklyn and Queens, don’t expect the likes of Long Island City or Brooklyn Bridge Park to offer you front-row seats to this year’s celebration.

Anyone in the suburbs wanting a live Macy’s Fourth of July show will likely have to travel to Manhattan or New Jersey to witness the festivities. While Macy’s hasn’t released any official viewing locations yet, it’s safe to say that the best viewing areas are between 14th and 34th streets in Manhattan, as well as waterfront locations in Jersey like Hoboken and Jersey City. There will also be boat cruises organized by companies like Circle Line, allowing New Yorkers from every community to enjoy the spectacle from the water.

It’s also worth noting that districts are adapting to this change, and Macy’s fireworks aren’t necessarily the only ones. As such, residents of other boroughs will be heartened to know that there will be a number of other impressive fireworks displays throughout the city, including one that will begin at 10 PM EST in Coney Island. There will certainly be other exhibitions in the boroughs and we will continue to report on these events as details become available.
