The Scottish city with ‘best chocolate’, one of the country’s top holiday destinations

If you’re currently looking for some summer travel inspiration, the charming town of Pitlochry is one of Scotland’s best holiday destinations.

Pitlochry, often called the heart of Highland Perthshire, is situated on the River Tummel. It offers attractions all year round, with a wealth of beautiful walks to explore in the summer.

The town is also home to a variety of restaurants and cafes, so there really is something for everyone. In fact, as reported by the Scottish Daily Express, it is home to “the best chocolate in the world”.

For those with a sweet tooth, the city’s best attraction is undoubtedly the home of Scotland’s most awarded chocolatier, Iain Burnett Highland Chocolatier. Here you can try the best dark and white truffles in the world, awarded by the International Chocolate Awards, and taste a whole range of unique handmade chocolates.

Visitors can also visit the chocolate lounge, which offers a menu of cakes, small savory snacks and drinks. Unsurprisingly, they all emphasize chocolate.

You can also try the attraction’s award-winning hot chocolate, which has been voted the best in Europe according to the Scottish Daily Express. There is also a selection of coffees, made by a highly trained barista team that will ensure your visit is unforgettable.

When it comes to other activities to keep you busy, you’re spoiled for choice. To start, you can visit the picturesque Tummel Valley and Loch Faskally, which was created when the River Tummel was dammed for a local hydroelectric project.

The Pitlochry Dam Visitor Center is also worth a visit, especially because of the fish ladder where approximately 5,500 salmon take off from April to October. Further down the valley you can see the water flowing over the rocks at the picturesque Linn van Tummel.
